How to Prevent Viruses
|
1. Install antivirus software on your computer.
2. Update your antivirus software regularly. During virus outbreaks, Rising Antivirus provides updates once or even several times a day to provide constant protection for your computer.
3. Enable Rising Auto-Protect. Auto-Protect is enabled upon system startup to prevent virus infection. Auto-Protect serves as a real-time, multi-layer defense. When Auto-Protect is disabled, there is a significantly higher risk of virus infection. It is recommended that you enable Auto-Protect and set up a password in case other users try to disable this feature.
4. Perform a complete virus scan on a regular basis. It is recommended that you scan your computer at least once a week.
5. When copying files to your computer, it is recommended that you scan all of these files using Instant Scan.
6. Read emails in plain text. Do not open attachments unless you are certain that they are not infected. It is recommended that you enable Email Scan.
7. When downloading files from the Internet, check whether the website's security certificate is valid. When transferring files via instant messaging software (e.g. MSN Messenger) or downloading files from the Internet, make sure Rising Embedded Scan is enabled. This will automatically scan incoming files for viruses.
8. Never visit websites where malicious scripts or worms may exist. Make sure that Script Blocking is enabled.
9. Check virus alerts regularly. During a virus outbreak, you can check virus alerts on the Rising website.
10. Update your computer's operating system using "Microsoft Windows Update", or use Rising Vulnerability Check to download and install security patches regularly.
11. Install a personal firewall to block worms and prevent hackers from invading your computer.
